Field survey, stakeholder meetings and extensive writing for a comprehensive metropolitan historic preservation plan for Salt Lake City, focusing upon analysis of the city’s numerous historic districts and individually landmarked resources. The project was completed in collaboration with Clarion Associates.

CIRCLE B RANCH (LINCOLN COUNTY, WY)

Section 106 intensive-level documentation and analysis of late 19 th and early 20th century ranch buildings and structures, including a cow camp, log spring house, and a number of log cabins. The site is located ten miles northeast of Cokeville in the remote Hams Fork River Valley.

LEE CANYON SKI RESORT (CLARK COUNTY, NV)

Section 106 intensive-level documentation and analysis of this 1960s ski resort located at the head of Lee Canyon in the Spring Mountains and Toiyabe National Forest northwest of Las Vegas.

NORTHERN CALIFORNIA WINERIES (MENDOCINO & SONOMA COUNTIES, CA)

Field survey, archival documentation and report preparation on two wineries, along with associated outbuildings and structures, in the northern California wine country in Sonoma and Mendocino counties.

CITY OF JEROME & THE JEROME CO-OPERATIVE CREAMERY (JEROME, ID)

Preparation of interpretive signage about the City of Jerome, which was founded in 1907 on the sagebrush and lava rock desert above the Snake River Canyon. Another panel was prepared for the Jerome Co-Operative Creamery, which has been in continuous operation since 1915. This facility is significant for its lava rock architecture and its support of regional dairy farming and agriculture.

WALTER & SARAH EVANS FARM (MERIDIAN, ID)

Section 106 intensive-level documentation and analysis of this 1889 farmstead located in the countryside outside of Meridian, a western suburb of Boise.

VERIZON WIRELESS AND T-MOBILE CELLULAR TOWER SITES (ID, UT, WY)

Analysis of several hundred Section 106 documentation projects requiring FCC and SHPO approval for proposed cellular tower sites in communities across Idaho, Utah and Wyoming. The projects were completed in collaboration with Cannon Heritage Consultants Inc.

WENDOVER AIRFIELD (WENDOVER, UT)

Section 106 intensive-level documentation and analysis of World War II-era built resources and foundation ruins surrounding the modern passenger terminal at this desert airfield that was central to the training of heavy bomber crews. Included in the project were the base swimming pool, motor pool, machine shop and parachute building.

LYMAN LAKE LDS CAMP (SUMMIT COUNTY, UT)

Section 106 documentation and analysis of this rustic 1950s-1960s Latter Day Saints Church summer camp located in the Wasatch-Cache National Forest in the Uinta Mountains of eastern Utah.

CENTRAL PACIFIC RAILROAD, PROMONTORY BRANCH (BOX ELDER COUNTY, UT)

Historical research and writing about the CPRR’s 1860s development across the western frontier, its completion upon meeting the Union Pacific Railroad at Promontory Summit in May 1869, operation of the line into the twentieth century, and changes that have taken place to the right-of-way over the past 150 years. This work supported an archaeological survey of trestles and culverts along the route through Box Elder County and is included in the final project report. The project was completed in collaboration with Cannon Heritage Consultants Inc.

WENDOVER AIRFIELD (WENDOVER, UT)

National Register nomination for this massive World War II and Cold War-era desert airfield that served as the primary training facility for heavy bomber crews flying B-17s, B-24s and B-29s. This included the top-secret training compound and hangar used by the crews of the Enola Gay and Bockscar, the planes that dropped atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki to end the war in the Pacific Theater.

OAKRIDGE COUNTRY CLUB (FARMINGTON, UT)

Section 106 intensive-level documentation and analysis of this premiere 1956 country club designed by nationally known golf course architect William F. Bell of Pasadena, California together with Salt Lake City landscape architect William H. Neff, who went on to become Utah’s preeminent golf course designer of the post-WWII era.

WEST SIDE DISTRICT (CHEYENNE, WY)

Section 106 field survey, archival documentation and analysis of 35 properties in the West Side District, a large area of early historic commercial, industrial and warehouse buildings adjacent to downtown. This supported planning for a major urban renewal project designed to incorporate historic preservation in the revitalization of this area of the city.

PERSHING BOULEVARD & COLE SHOPPING CENTER (CHEYENNE, WY)

Section 106 field survey, archival documentation and analysis of 1940s and early 1950s residential neighborhoods and an early 1950s shopping center for a major roadway improvement project.

SNOW KING MOUNTAIN RESORT (JACKSON, WY)

Section 106 study of the entire 1940s-1960s Snow King Mountain Resort above the city of Jackson in support of an effort to obtain a US Forest Service permit for planned expansion and modification.

ATLAS MISSILE LAUNCH FACILITY #4 (LARAMIE COUNTY, WY)

Field survey, archival research and documentation of a 750-acre 1959 Atlas D nuclear missile launch facility in rural Wyoming west of Cheyenne. The complex consisted of three launch buildings, an operations headquarters building, a powerhouse, radar and communications installations, a guardhouse, perimeter fencing, and below-grade features.

CARBON CEMETERY (CARBON, WY)

Field survey, archival research and preparation of a National Register nomination and master preservation plan for this 1868-1902 cemetery located adjacent to the remains of an important coal town along the original route of the Union Pacific Railroad through southern Wyoming.
